There are a few really wonderful community initiatives happening in Monteseel at the moment, the conservancy, the playgroup teas, drumming circles and of course where it all began the neighbourhood watch. And while these efforts have been integral in creating a sense of community which sadly was lacking in our area, I feel that a reliable form of communication between residents is still needed.
I would therefore like to offer to host a community blog, this blog would be run by the community, for the community and would cover local news and events, crafts, businesses, any issues or topics that you feel are relevant.
We are all so privileged to live in an amazing area, many of us can safely say we would not want to live anywhere else! Please share your thoughts on what living in Monteseel means for you, what you would like to see happening here.
I would also love to receive photos that you would like to post and will be running a competition for the prized header photo. So get snapping! To be included in the competition please email me your pics by 28 Feb 2011.

Since moving to the area, my husband I have been astounded but the environment. It's exactly the sort of place we want to raise a family, the sound of birds, cows and horse walking past, safe to take walks and community that watches out for each other. So you can imagine my horror when suddenly last night my impression was shattered. It started off a peaceful misty evening then soon after nightfall all hell broke loose. Yes I understand it's Dewali, which should be celebrated by lighting small clay lamps. Which to me would look phenomenal. After all, when welcoming the goddess Lakshmi should one not do it peacefully, especially since she is the embodiment of beauty and grace. I hardly see where the thunderous sounds of fireworks would help. I must say how shocked I am that in such a small community this takes place. When majority of the people either have young children or animals. And I am more than concerned at what Guy Fawkes is going to bring. Which has no meaning to anyone.
